Netflix Games is adding two new titles to its gaming library

It’s all fun and games for the user as Netflix continues to expand its presence in the streaming space.

On November 2, 2021, Netflix began offering mobile games to its subscribers to get them excited about the service. It was initially launched for Android users and made available for iOS and iPad the following week. Since then, Netflix games have continuously added titles to their offerings. All games are included in your video subscription and there are no additional costs.

Users can also launch Netflix games directly from the app after downloading them from Google Play and the App Store.

Netflix executives have consistently emphasized that they view their product as something that competes with everything else. Anything, whether an activity or a service, that takes you away from spending time on the app is considered competition. The media streaming giant also faces stiff competition as various studios launch their own streaming services. Offering a games library will appeal to a younger audience that has turned to video games as an alternative source of entertainment. The video game industry is expected to grow by leaps and bounds in the coming years.

The streaming service could eventually become a formidable presence in gaming. It continues to build a strategic team behind the scenes to manage the video game space. The company previously stated that “we want to create games for every level of play and every type of player, whether you’re a beginner or a lifetime gamer.”

Netflix has dived headlong into the video games segment.

Current offers

Netflix’s latest offerings in the gaming arena include Arcanium: Rise of Akhan and Krispee Street, bringing the total gaming line up to twelve.

Arcanium: Rise of Akhan

The streaming service shared the news on Twitter, announcing, “Plunge into a fantasy world where good, evil, magic and technology collide for the ultimate tale of camaraderie and bravery. Arcanium, a single-player open-world strategy card game, is now available on Netflix.” It was developed by Rogue Games.

It takes place in the world of Arzu and has been rated as one of the best card battle games. You are expected to fight against dark forces as you defeat Akhan the Calamity to save Arzu. Those who have tried it praise the strategic element, gameplay and graphics. The game has been available on Steam Early Access since December 2020 and has received mostly positive reviews.

Krispee Street

While you are expected to be very calculating and tactical in Arcanium, Krispee Street is more of a light-hearted game. The original webcomic has around 147,000 followers on Instagram. According to Netflix’s official announcement, “Enter the quirky, inquisitive, and warm-embracing world of Krispee Street, a hidden object game based on the webcomic of the same name. Get all the feelings you never knew you needed now on Netflix.”

The game features a daily puzzle and a zen mode designed to help you relieve stress. Players have to comb through a big picture full of landscapes and characters to find their targets. It also includes original music and sound effects, daily challenges, Krispee trading cards, and seven hand-drawn levels to explore.

Netflix price increase

However, last week Netflix Inc. increased its prices by $1 to $2 in the US and Canada, depending on the plan. It has been mentioned that this hike will help them create new and better content as competition increases with newer entrants in the streaming arena.

A Netflix spokesman said: “We are updating our prices so we can continue to offer a wide variety of quality entertainment options. As always, we’re offering a range of plans so members can choose a price that fits their budget.” It remains to be seen if users will agree with this move.

Ultimately, Netflix aspires to become the leader in entertainment. It has set itself the goal of becoming a one-stop shop that appeals to all age groups with its wide range of offers, be it games, films or documentaries.
