I love bookstores! I love cafes! And I love bars! When I found out there was a three-in-one combo in Portsmouth, I shouted, “Why the hell haven’t I been here yet ?!”
Like so many other companies, Book & Bar struggled with staffing levels after the pandemic. They closed indefinitely in mid-July to give their employees a well-deserved break without their knowing when they would be back. Well, praise the caffeinated drink gods because Book & Bar put the beautiful “OPEN” flag in front of their store this week.
According to Book and bar Facebook page they offer homemade soups, salads, sandwiches, small plates and various baked goods. And when you are thirsty, you can have a cocktail, a beer, a glass of wine or a delicious espresso!

The extensive food and drink menu paired with a large number of used and discounted books that are available for purchase makes Book & Bar really unique!

The thought that bookstores could be a thing of the past thanks to the power of Amazon is not okay with me. It’s up to us to keep the bookstores alive! Who doesn’t love posting in a bookstore on a rainy afternoon? And having a bookstore where you can sip wine or a martini is EVEN BETTER! Now that Book & Bar is open again I will definitely stop by.
