Swindon’s best shops, pubs and salons are showcased at the Muddy Stilettos Awards

Seven Swindon businesses have received lifestyle awards recognizing independent businesses across the country.

The 2022 Muddy Stilettos Awards came to a close last week as the winners for Wiltshire were announced. It was the culmination of a six-week poll for the best local businesses in 28 Muddy counties in partnership with national sponsor Healthily.

This year 75,000 companies were nominated and 765,000 votes were cast in 2022.

All votes were cast by Muddy Stilettos readers, so the website, which offers an “Urban Guide to the Country,” had no bearing on the results.

The newly opened Bert’s Books in Swindon’s Old Town was selected as the winner for Best Bookshop in the Borough.

Owner Alex Call opened the online store in 2019 and offers book packages suitable for all types of readers.

The store grew so much during lockdown that Alex decided to open a physical store in May – just a month and a half before being chosen as the winner of Best Bookstore in Wiltshire.

Some of the other winners in Swindon are The Eternal Optimist in Old Town, which won Best Bar, Trousseaux Bridal for Best Bridal Shop, baby class company Stretches & Strokes for Best Children’s Shop and Hannah Brown Jewelery for Best Jeweller, Little Grazey for Best New Lifestyle Startup and Kapada Vintage for Best Womenswear Store.

The Little Gem in Royal Wootton Bassett has been voted best cafe in Wiltshire.
